Yeap the full set. Cal Cox is finishing up in the next few minutes, Klaudia Gawlas takes over for half an hour before they switch the broadcast back to the Open Air floor, and air Markus' set in full live.

PvD refused permission to have his set broadcasted.

Why do DJs never want their set broadcasted? Like in Markus' blog today:

"I felt a little nervous because not only could I not prepare properly, the set was going out live on Planeta FM, which also meant that all you guys would be listening online too!"

When it's broadcasted like that, it means it's being recorded, which means the mix will be replayed by a lot of people. So you want to make it really special and meaningful. You don't want a mix you weren't necessarily in the best shape for living on the internet.

In most cases it is because their livesets barely change at all. If one of their livesets gets ripped off the radio and spread around the internet, people will download and listen and see a tracklist. Then they go see that DJ perform in the club and he spins the same set with tracks in the same order, and they feel cheated out of a performance.

Above & Beyond, Tiesto, PvD and ATB regularly forbid their sets to be broadcasted live because of this. A&B refused to have their set broadcasted live from both the DJ Mag Top 100 Party last October and when they played the mainstage at Trance Energy this year. They claimed they had a set full of exclusive material. From what I saw on YouTube, the single exclusive they had was Thing Called Love, with the rest being old Anjunabeats stuff.

Gareth Emery has had livesets broadcasted from Global Gathering in Kiev and the Sunrise Festival in the space of 3 weeks. His sets at both were practically identical. I think I checked and the first six tracks in both sets were in the exact same order.

Markus on the other hand does make an effort to change up his sets more frequently than the rest. Of course he relies on staples like Perception and Flesh, because they are massive and people associate those tracks with him. It's also because he knows that if there is a live broadcast of a big event he is on, people like us will make a big deal out of it and spend the night on the forums chatting and listening.

So in summary, he's good to us.

always put on a good show and not worry about having your set broadcasted.

armin van buuren, markus schulz, gareth emery, etc. never have an issue with this.
