Re: new genre : pop trance

i think some people work themselves up too much. you can get insipration from anywhere. dirty diddy money's track coming home was remixed by dirty south and it's fantastic. people should be more worried about bad producers rather than where producers gain inspiration.

    srlsy WTF :?

    who's next? Bieber?
Wow, I had heard he did something with Britney Spears, but I've never heard it until now. It's not even a good track!

Meanwhile, you shouldn't be too surprised, Gareth isn't the first:

Britney Spears - Everytime (Above & Beyond Remix)
Britney Spears - And Then We Kiss (Junkie XL Remix)
Dave Matthews Band - The Space Between (DJ Tiesto Remix)
Dido - Everything To Lose (Armin van Buuren Remix)
Dido - Sand In My Shoes (Above & Beyond Remix)
Madonna - What It Feels Like For A Girl (Above & Beyond Remix)
Owl City - The Saltwater Room (DJ Eco Remix)
Saigon - Bring Me Down (Matt Lange Remix)
Sarah McLachlan - Fallen (Gabriel & Dresden Remix)
Sarah McLachlan - Sweet Surrender (DJ Tiesto Remix)
The Police - Message In A Bottle (KhoMha Remix)
U2 - New Year's Day (Ferry Corsten Remix)
U2 - Beautiful Day (Paul Oakenfold Remix)
U2 - Elevation (Paul van Dyk Remix)
U2 - Where The Streets Have No Name (John O'Callaghan Remix)

The list goes on I'm sure.

Ultimately, my view of "Prance" is the same as my view of Vocal Trance, since there is no such thing as an instrumental Pop Hit: if the music is well done and the vocals aren't cheesy and actually have substance, then I am on board. If not, then it gets dumped in with this Gareth Emery remix.

While Gareth Emery lost my interest a while ago, I am not concerned with people remixing pop hits TOO much (although it is admittedly disappointing, as these remixes tend to be really grossly commercial, but some are rather good!), my fear is when producers begin COLLABORATING with these pop stars:

Three 6 Mafia feat. Tiƫsto - Feel It
Armin van Buuren feat. Owl City - Youtopia

Some of you may have seen this before, but my entire post can be summed up with this:

(While I disagree that Markus is "Where Trance Went Wrong," I do believe the video maker hit the nail on the head concerning his music videos; they were garbage.)

With regards to the video above, one of Markus' new dakota tracks (I'm Where it Went Wrong) is actually made in response to that.

Markus is really sensitive to fans' feedback, which is good to see

Fully agreed!! - Thanks for the link man, it is very informative, and I always wondered what inspired that track (and others). That's awesome.

Markus has always been so down to earth and has yet to let the fame raise his head above the clouds, and always manages to find time to interact with his fans whether it is behind the decks, through social media, or in the studio. He truly is an inspiration and personal hero, many top artists need to follow his example.
