Gareth Emery set I take it?

Yep. Way tooooooooooooooooooooo many vocals. I am a fan of lots of mashups though, assuming they're good mashups.

I listened to his set live and it was ok, I don't have anything against mashups, Markus does knw how to make them good though! Gareth's set at ASOT celebration last year was better than this one in my opinion. Also there are a lot of classics in this set, I love classics, but in an event like a state of trance 500 you want to play new tunes mostly and that excludes your own tunes when they make up more than 50 % of your set as it was gareth's cse this time.

i'm not sure that there's anything necessarily wrong with the mashups and vocal tracks that are a staple of gareth's sets ... it's just different. i've seen him a few times and always had a good time. you just kinda have to switch your brain into a different gear than, say, for a markus set.

two things annoy me about gareth, though: 1) he's been playing damn near the same set for over a year now, and 2) he either doesn't mix well or doesn't care to mix well for a majority of the time. sometimes i think he's just piss drunk up there running on autopilot.
    what's up and welcome

Make that 2 years. He absolutely blew it this time and is getting a lot of criticism everywhere. Unfortunately most DJ's nowadays are blinded by the #trancegayfamily masses who have no clue and think everything is awesome.
