ohhh this is a great idea!! lets do it!!

the only issue is that you can not post your sets here....soooooo maybe we can not have a Markus Schulz bedroom Dj really- but maybe some twist on it????

Darren, any ideas????

The sets can me posted in the off topic area, where I was just about to post mine :P

But I'm sure if they had the contest once, they can do it again. :D

Nope, they can't. Thar be no sets here on MS.com, we're all official now and have rules to abide by. I screamed oppression but I was silenced :P

well i dont see why we cant have the contest. we can be politically correct and have it as a track list contest on here.

then. we can have the links available elsewhere. So theres no need to post here. So...basically....we're just posting track lists here ...technically speaking of course.

Hows that sound?

We can make a location and only the people that want access can access. We can deal with that aspect outside of MS.com

I would love to hear what everyone has - especially if its based on your love of Mr Schulz!!

Theres also another idea- since it will be quite easy to keep track. There are only a handlful of us.

Maybe you can go over to UKTA and we can do the contest there. HERE we can post the link to UKTA. Which, is NOT against the rules :) :)

loop holes people...loops holes.

Plus. Everyone should be a member of UKTA anyways bc all the cool people are.....

Darren...speak up man :)

You have to remember the circumstances of Markus and GDJB in August 2004 compared to now.

In 2004 Markus did not have such an extensive tour schedule as he does today, therefore setting aside time for him to listen to all the sets and judge the contest would be next to near impossible right now.

Also, if he was to run a contest such as this, there would need to be a reasonable prize on offer e.g. a CDJ, a mixer, a pair of headphones etc. In order to do this, you would have to find a sponsor. And in this economic climate, I can't see too many companies being up for donating expensive equipment for us to give away for free.

If there ever was to be a Bedroom contest again, the most likely time for it to happen would be the winter - where Markus isn't trekking over to Europe every weekend. I know that he would take great pride in overseeing the contest, and would want to take the time to listen and judge each entry.

I hate the rule of us not being allowed to share our sets here more than anybody, and there are lots of people who know already that I made sets each month pretty much with the sole purpose of giving them to the people on the forum that cared enough to listen. I don't have an alternative agenda with the sets (i.e. hosting a radio show). If it was up to Markus, he would be happy for us to share GDJB downloads here each week. But because this is now the official forum, we are in the eyes of Armada, and if we started sharing material they deemed as "illegal", then it would hurt Markus in the long run. (I had to work very hard to secure a monthly Markus newsletter through Armada just before Christmas).

We can't be linking the sets to UKTA either. Armada would deem that as practically posting the link to the set here.

The situation sucks. I mean I made a 9+ hour set over Christmas that I would have loved to have given to everyone on here, but it would be bad form if I broke the rules here. We just have to accept it.

Hopefully one day, the bedroom contest will return, but I can't see there being any possibility until the winter time at least.

Hope this helps.

:(

We understand, Darren :) :) Just trying to see if theres any loop holes is all.

When you said Bedroom DJ contest- I was not here in 2004 (i suck butt) so I wasnt aware that you all were literally referring to something Markus himself would judge/listen to. So that DEFINTELY makes more sense. I was thinking more along the lines of everyone on the forum has a listen and a poll is taken or something.

It is tough, but its better to have the forum and no contest then nothing at all!! if that helps at all for any of the dissapointmen! :) :)

(i still need my angel smiley!)

!

The winner of the Bedroom Contest in 2004 was Terje Bakke, and the prize was that his set aired on the August 30th 2004 edition of GDJB (sandwiched in between sets from Markus and Armin).

Included in the set, Terje also had a production he did along with Joni Ljungqvist, Fanatic, signed to Coldharbour Selections Part 3 at the same time.

What a beautiful track Fanatic still is today. :)
