On Wednesday October 29th, the results for the much heralded annual DJ Mag Top 100 DJs Poll for 2008 were announced. For Markus Schulz, a milestone achievement was reached – breaking into the ultra competitive Top 10 for the first time, and finding himself located in 8th position.

The achievement is a testament to one of the hardest working DJs on the circuit, touring all five continents, playing at the biggest clubs and festivals, and consistently raising the performance bar each time round. Holding residences at two prestigous clubs, Amnesia in Ibiza and Ministry of Sound in London, Markus continues to create a legacy though his unique hybrid of progressive grooves and trance melodies.

On receipt of the news, Markus immediately had a message to be delivered to his fans.

“Finding out the results was a real humbling experience to me,” says Markus. “I can’t even begin to thank you enough for all your support you have given me, particularly over the past year. Whether it be at the clubs, the message boards, or listening to Global DJ Broadcast and Evolution every week, the kind words that you all say really do mean a lot. Thank you all so much for continuing to inspire me.”

With three single releases on his label Coldharbour Recordings through the summer of 2008, and celebrating the 50th release with his own track “Daydream”, his next single will be “The New World”, a track chosen by the Transmission event in Prague as their 2008 theme. Hot off from mixing his first compilation for Armani Exchange, fans are anticipating the next chapter in his compilation series for Armada, to be released in early 2009.

It is not just the fans who Markus wishes to thank. “I would like to pay tribute to the great people who I work with, and who have all played their part in my achievements this year. To all staff at Armada Music and David Lewis Productions, Get In PR, Armani Exchange, the Coldharbour Recordings roster, Sirius Radio and all the stations who support me by airing Global DJ Broadcast each week, I appreciate every little thing you all do.”

“There are a few people that contribute greatly behind the scenes, that help keep me on top of things and open doors to opportunities that I think I have taken well this year. We are all continuing to grow together, and I can honestly say that I am enjoying the journey very much.”

Not content to rest on his laurels, Markus is already looking forward to 2009 with great anticipation.

“I am getting excited about it already. The Global DJ Broadcast World Tour will be bigger than ever, and I am looking forward to having some real fun in the studio, being creative with remixes and developing ideas for my next artist album.”

Innovative and dedicated, Markus Schulz’s star will continue to shine through 2009 and beyond.
