Release Label: Armada Music
Release Code: ARDI1069
Release Date: April 13th 2009
Following the release of his well-acclaimed Toronto ’09 compilation, Markus Schulz presents his monthly selection of 15 tracks that have featured on his Global DJ Broadcast radio show in recent weeks, all in their full unmixed versions.
Deservedly taking top spot this month is Serbian Nemanja Mirkovic, better known as John Deere. His track, No Compromise, has taken Global DJ Broadcast by storm, and has featured on several shows throughout 2009.
Best remembered for her work as a member of Iio, Nadia Ali returns with the followup to Crash & Burn last year, entitled Love Story. Beautifully remixed by Englishman and Daydream collaborater Andy Moor, this set pulses racing on Global DJ Broadcast during January and February.
Each month, Markus kicks off the Global DJ Broadcast with his World Tour. In February, the World Tour touched down in the city of Las Vegas. Two of the tracks that had an immediate impact in that set were from Daniel Portman and David West, Wellness Park in particular still a popular selection in his Markus’ live sets today.
Brazilian Danilo Ercole has been a championed name on the show in recent months, and he made his Coldharbour Recordings bow recently with the release of Harbour – a unique mix of tech and melodic layers. The track featured on Markus’ Essential Mix back in December, and also found a worthy spot on the Toronto ’09 CD. Additional Coldharbour presence this month comes from popular names such as Robert Burian, Tritonal and Monogato.
It would be difficult to find a GDJB tracklist these days that doesn’t include the name of Ashley Wallbridge. Making an appearance on the Top 15 for the second straight month, Masquerade has been expertly remixed by Slovakian talent Nifra, and has received numerous plays on the show as a result.
Coldharbour favourite Dyor recently teamed up with vocalist Alex Bartlett to release Floating Beyond. The Lange remix has steadily gained popularity over the past number of months, and is now regularly played by Markus on Evolution and his live sets.
To round off the selection, Markus has chosen a couple of tracks that featured on his mix compilations from previous years – Azaleas, taken from Amsterdam ’08, and South-West Saga, taken from Ibiza ’06. Both tracks are certain to evoke memories of Global DJ Broadcast at that time.
