The voting for the annual DJ Mag Top 100 DJs Poll, defining the biggest movers and shakers in dance music, has now commenced. The past 12 months have been a continuation in the remarkable story of Markus Schulz.

He closed out 2008 with an appearance on BBC Radio 1‘s much heralded Essential Mix, winning many new fans and admirers on the way. The mix was significant due to the inclusion of his first production material under his Dakota alias for 7 years.

After spending the winter months in the studios, he burst into life in March, releasing the latest chapter in his compilation series, Toronto ’09, and being rewarded with the accolade of Best American DJ at the 2009 IDMAs, held during Miami’s Winter Music Conference.

His Global DJ Broadcast World Tour series continues to grow, with notable episodes emanating from cities such as Prague, Melbourne, Hong Kong and Wroclaw. This week, the country of Russia will be represented for the first time, as the broadcast will come from St. Petersburg.

In late June, the Dakota project came to fruition, with the release of the Thoughts Become Things album. Picking up praise from all quarters in trance, progressive and house, the sound of Dakota has been regularly demonstrated on many playlists of the top DJs.

And after the success of Transmission theme, The New World, Markus returns with the followup, marking the milestone of 75 releases on Coldharbour Recordings, entitled Do You Dream, set to be the signature anthem in his sets throughout the remainder of the summer.
